It has been a tough last 16 draw in Champions League for English teams as Celtic and Manchester United would be facing Italian and Spanish League Champions. The Bhoys face Juventus from Italy whereas fans cannot wait to see United battle it out against Real Madrid from Spain. Meanwhile, the draw hasn’t been any kinder to Arsenal as well with Last year beaten finalists Bayern Munich waiting who are run away leaders in the German after opening up a 12 point lead over their rivals.
The tie between United and Madrid is a standout fixture in this year’s competition with Red Devil’s boss renewing his rivalry with Jospeh Mourinho whereas Cristiano Ronaldo will be making his return to Old Trafford after making a record breaking £ 80 Million transfer to Real Madrid in 2009.
Celtic will be hoping to catch Juventus with a freezing atmosphere at Parkhead with Barcelona already falling victims to it despite of having more than 80% possession in the match. Arsenal would be happy to avoid Barcelona at least but it doesn’t gets any better with Germany’s Bayern Munich aiming for a revenge against English teams after getting beaten by an English Team in the final last year at their home ground.
Meanwhile, in Europa League, all English teams I.e. Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle and Tottenham have been handed tricky ties. Reds have been paired with Zenit St Petersburg of Russia whereas Chelsea face Sparta Prague and Newcastle will play against Metalist Kharkiv from Ukraine. Tottenham meanwhile will have to make a short journey to France where they will face Lyon.
