PFA Player of the Year 2013

PFA Player of the Year

The race for PFA Player of the year 2013 award looks set to be the most competitive as three brilliant performers from Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are building up their credentials for the prestigious award.

Last season, it was Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie who won the award before moving to Red Devils in a multi million pound deal. It was a one horse last year as no one even came close to challenging the classy Dutchman.

PFA Player of the Year

Luis Suarez now becomes clear cut favorite to win PFA Player of the Year 2013 award with Van Persie second on the list. This season, the ball game is totally different. Liverpool’s Luis Suarez is currently leading the race with 22 goals to his name in the premier league. Suarez has already won two awards when he was the first player to score ten goals in the league whereas with a hat trick against Wigan Athletic last on match day 28, he also crossed the mark of scoring 20 goals in a single season.

The trickery forward has a bad reputation about his temper and off field issues but his ability is undoubted. With him playing in false number 9 role, it is really impressive for a player to be the top scorer in the league with a bad reputation and a tag of creating more chances than scoring. He also made 4 assists and created the maximum number of chances for his team mates to score.

Robin Van Persie can accurately be defined as a clinical centre forward in his prime. It was never easy for the player to make the move and settle into the team so well with many doubting, United’s decision to splash out millions on the striker about to enter his 30.

However, he answered the critics in best possible manner by scoring 19 goals in the season so far and helping United to open a mammoth 12 point lead over nearest challengers Manchester City that almost secures historic 20th league title for the red half of Manchester.

Gareth Bale who won this award in 2011 is also in contention with 15 goals to his name in the league. His performances have reached another level after becoming the most important player in Spurs by scoring 9 goals out of possible 12 the team has scored in their previous matches. It is a terrific achievement for a player who is still in his early 20,s. with all the time of the world on his side, Gareth Bale looks set to win many award in future if he fails to win in 2013.
