There were two matches played in the premier league match day 25 with Spurs travelling to West Brom where they recorded a 1-0 win over the 10 men baggies. West Brom player was sent just after the 2nd half started after which Sours took full advantage of their one man advantage. However, they were not able to break the solid defence of Steve Clarke’s side but their efforts were not in vain when Gareth Bale scored a fantastic goal before the 70th minute mark. With this win, Spurs are just a point behind 3rd placed Chelsea at 45 points.
The second match saw Liverpool travel to home of Champions Manchester City at Etihad stadium. Liverpool played extremely well for most of the match but City took the lead with Edin Dzeko scoring from James Milner’s cross. Daniel Sturridge scored an awesome equalizer with a thunderbolt strike from 20 yards. Second half started with Liverpool in command and captain Steven Gerrard scored a trademark 30 yard strike to put Reds 2-1 up on the night. However, just like the meeting of the two sides in August ended in a 2-2 draw, Pepe Reina made a huge mistake to allow Manchester City to score the equalizer through Sergio Aguero.
With this draw, Manchester City are now 9 points behind the league leaders Manchester United whereas Liverpool are also 9 points behind Spurs who are acquiring the last champions league spot in the league. With 13 matches still to be played this season, both teams now need to start picking up wins if they want to achieve their aims this season.
