There were four matches played in the premier league on Tuesday evening with Newcastle claiming an all important win over their rival strugglers Aston Villa whereas QPR, Man City, Sunderland and Swansea all played a blank 0-0 draws in their respective games. Wigan also claimed a priceless point at the Britannia stadium after playing out a 2-2 draw against Stoke City.
Cisse scored the opening goal for Newcastle after a superb pass from new Signing, Moussa Sissoko on 19th minute mark. Yohan Cabaye then added a stunning second goal for the magpies on the half hour mark of the game to increase his team’s lead. Aston Villa made a superb fight back in the second half when Christian Benteke scored from a penalty spot within first 5 minutes of the second half but it didn’t prove to be enough as they were not able to equalize. With this defeat, Villa are now in the relegation zone.
Julio Cesar played an important role for QPR in containing Manchester City to a 0-0 draw at the Loftus Road. The goal keeper was on top of his game and made many superb saves to keep the deadlock. With this draw, City are now 4 points behind league leaders Manchester United but with United having a game in hand, it is looking highly doubtful that City will be able to catch United in this seasons race to premier league title.
Stoke Manager, Tuny Pulis would be furious with his players after watching his team letting away a 2-0 lead slip away against Wigan who scored two goals in 11 minutes to secure a point. This point, could yet prove to be a vital in the fight for survival for Wigan against all the teams who are involved in it. The last match on the night saw, Swansea play out a 0-0 draw against Sunderland at stadium of light.
