Frank Lampard will become a free agent in the summer according to Steve Kutner, agent for the Chelsea legend. There were wide spread reports that Chelsea Owner, Roman Abramovich was ready to accept the demands by majority of Chelsea fans by giving Lampard a new contract. The player is reported to have agreed to take a pay cut to stay at Chelsea and carry on playing for the club.
Lampard equaled the all time leading goal scorer for Chelsea after scoring from penalty against Southampton in FA Cup 3rd round where the blues ran out 5-1 winners. This led to rumors that Lamps is set to sign a new contract but the recent outbreak of Steve Kutner has proved to be a big blow for Chelsea fans as he suggests that there is no possible chance that Lampard will be given a new deal.
It is reported that Chelsea officials first talked to Kutner while the team was touring Japan for World Club Championship where the possibility of a new deal was totally ruled out. Another meeting took place when Lampard scored both goals for the team in a crucial victory against Everton in the premier league but it proved to be in vain.
On the other hand, Lampard himself has thanked the fans after being emotionally touched by their support when the supports sang Sign him Up, Sign him Up, at the away terraces at St Mary’s Stadium where Lampard scored the historic 193th goal in his Chelsea career.
