Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw at Swansea with a row between Ashley Williams and Robin Van Persie took away all the headlines from a highly contested match between two passing teams. United took the lead after 15 minute park when Patrice scoring his third goal of the season. It was a perfect corner kick from Van Perise and Evra arrived just in time to make no mistake and put United infront.
However, Swansea upped their game after going behind and equalized just before the half hour mark when Michu scored his 13th goal of the season with keeper David De Gea at fault. Ashley Williams was rock solid at the back for Swansea City and made a lot of crucial clearances against United attacks.
Swansea’s equalizer was a perfect example of passing excellence which this young team has developed into. Keeper Michael Worm was fully focused too when he made a fantastic 2nd half save denying Carrick’s looping header onto the goal. With this draw, United have seen their lead at top of the table to 4 points with City taking all 3 points against Reading in the dying seconds of the match.
In second match of the evening, Chelsea turned on the style beating Aston Villa by 8-0. Fernando Torres opened the scoring in opening stages of the match with quick fire goals from David Luiz and Ivanovic initially killed the game before the break. However, Chelsea continued to dominate Villa with Lampard scoring on his 500th appearance for the Blues.
A late hat trick from Ramires combined with a penalty from Oscar and a fantastic solo effort from Eden Hazard destroyed the morale of Paul Lambert’s side who were buoyed with their 3-1 success away at Anfield last weekend. With this win, Chelsea are now back in 3rd place in the table.
