Mountain to Climb for Arsenal

Arsenal were punished by Bayern Munich at Emirates Stadium with German side securing an impressive 3-1 win at Emirates Stadium. Tom Kross opened the scoring for Bayern with a superb shot just around the penalty area in the first 10 minutes of the match. It was all Bayern in the opening stages with several opportunities falling to their attacks.
Bayern doubled their lead before the first quarter of tie when horror defending from Gunners allowed Thomas Muller to tap in from the corner. Second goal did awake Arsenal to some extent and they looked appear to start a fight back in last ten minute of the first half but were unable to score.
The second half started with Arsenal trying to push for a goal and they were finally able to score when Lukas Podolski former Bayern player, headed the ball into an empty when Manuel Neur was disguised by flight of the ball from the corner. It provided Arsenal a perfect chance to start a massive rebuilding job but manager Arsene Wenger was late in making the changes and only brought Olivier Giroud and Tomas Rosicky after 70th minute mark. Matters got worse for Arsenal when Mandzukic scored from Lahm’s cross from the right.
The first leg ended with Arsenal conceding three goals at the Emirates and scoring only one. Arsene Wenger now needs his team to score at least 3 goals without conceding one at the Allianz Arena in Munich in order to reach the quarter final stage of the champions league.
