Noor Jehan was remembered yesterday as she was a great Singer and Actor of Pakistan and British India.

Noor Jehan which is a Title given to the Melody Queen “Allah Wasai”. She Born at September 21, 1926 and Died at December 23, 2000. She was legendary Singer and Actor in British India and Pakistan. She was most influential singers of her time in South Asia and was given the Great Title of Malika-e-Tarannum  (Queen of Melody).

She was born in a Punjabi musician Family, She was always pushed into singing career by her parents but she was always interested in the Acting field and she made 14 films in Pakistan, ten in Urdu, four in Punjabi.

In her singing Carrier she holds a record for singing over 10,000 songs in different languages which includes Urdu,Hindi,Punjabi and Sindhi. She was also awarded with President’s award for Her singing and Acting Qualities in 1957.

She also sang Many Patriotic songs during 1965 India-Pakistan war which became very popular and gave inspiration to the Soldiers of Pakistan, Some of them are listed Below.

  • Ae watan kay sajeelay jawano, Mere naghmay tumharay leeyay hain.
  • Aeh putr hataan tay nahin wikday, Tu lubni ain wich bazar kuray.

She was a Great Actor and Singer indeed, May her soul Rest In Paradise, Ameen.
